Tae Norwood Named PBSC Interim Athletic Director

Palm Beach State College is pleased to announce the appointment of Tae Norwood as its new interim athletic director.

Norwood brings more than 20 years of dedicated service to PBSC and a proven commitment to student-athlete success. He began his career at PBSC as the head men's basketball coach for the 2023-24 season. Earlier this year, the basketball team capped an unforgettable season with a milestone achievement—advancing to the NJCAA Division II National Championships and finishing with a 33–2 record, the best in program history.

Over the course of his tenure, he has remained deeply committed to helping student-athletes succeed in their educational journeys. His broad experience in student services functions has provided him with a strong understanding of both the College and PBSC's diverse populations. His leadership, expertise, and student-centered mindset have left a lasting impression and will continue to positively influence the support and resources available to our student-athletes.

"It is a tremendous privilege to serve as Director of Athletics at Palm Beach State College, and I am excited to lead our athletics program into its next chapter of excellence," he said. "I am sincerely grateful to President Ava L. Parker, JD, and Vice President of Student Services and Enrollment Management Peter Barbatis, EdD, for the confidence they have placed in me, their trust in my leadership, and the opportunity to serve this outstanding institution in this capacity."

He went on to say that Palm Beach State Athletics has a strong foundation and an even greater future ahead.

"My vision is to build upon that foundation with bold leadership, strategic growth, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We will pursue championships while remaining equally committed to academic achievement, character development, leadership, and the overall success of our student-athletes. I believe athletics has the power to elevate an institution, unite a community, and transform lives. As Director, I will work collaboratively with our coaches, staff, faculty, student-athletes, alumni, donors, and community partners to create a culture defined by accountability, innovation, service, and competitive excellence."

Norwood holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational and Leadership Services from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt. and a Master of Science with an emphasis in Kinesiology and Coaching from Georgia Southern University.
