PBSC wins Outstanding Delegation Award at National Model United Nations Conference

The Palm Beach State College Delegation won the Outstanding Delegation Award at the 2026 National Model United Nations Conference (NMUN) held in New York.

The award is the highest recognition, with only the top 20% of delegations receiving it, and recognizes delegations' overall performance, in all committees, during the conference. The PBSC delegation, which represented Bahrain, was among more than 300 colleges and universities that participated in the conference, which took place March 29-April 2.

“I’m immensely proud of this group. They put in a lot of hard work, supported one another and really rose to the challenge. It was great to see them represent PBSC so well on this global stage,” said faculty advisor Alex Bruno.

The PBSC delegation was comprised of 12 students: Elle Modock, Olivia Kenyon, Catalina Galatan, Zachary Swietnicki, Michael Derilus, Alexi Rostant, Denisha Cadet, Jonathan Guy, Bianca Lewis, Sazida Ishrat, Gabriela Hernandez-Garcia and Thomas Woodman.

Student delegations engaged in simulated UN committees, drafted resolutions on global problems, debated pressing issues, honed their negotiation and public speaking skills and networked with peers from around the world.

PBSC dual enrollment student and head delegate Elle Modock said the conference gave her a platform to develop her public speaking and collaboration skills. Her favorite part of the conference was getting to work with different delegations with differing viewpoints.

“As soon as you step into the conference, you start learning from all these different delegations and all these different perspectives,” Modock said. “You start to build connections and you're able to collaborate and work together because the whole point is to come up to a resolution. I'm just really proud that all our hard work paid off in the end.”

The NMUN is the world’s largest, most prestigious, diverse and oldest ongoing university-level Model UN. PBSC has participated in this conference for the past 11 years.
