Palm Beach State TRIO EOC students prepare to soar at FAU

TRIO students at FAU

Palm Beach State College TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) Panthers took their next step toward becoming Future Owls during a visit to Florida Atlantic University on Friday, March 27, 2026.

The trip gave students an up-close look at FAU’s academic offerings and transfer pathways as they prepare to complete their Associate in Arts degrees and take advantage of Florida’s guaranteed transfer admission to one of the 12 State University System institutions.

The TRIO EOC program empowers first-generation and low-income students by providing free, one-on-one college advising by experienced TRIO advisors in partnership with PBSC staff. The program supports every phase of the student journey—from GED completion and financial aid assistance to university transfer and persistence toward degrees or trade certifications.

Upon arrival at FAU’s Boca Raton campus, students were warmly welcomed and guided through an interactive campus tour. Representatives from FAU’s Office of Transfer Recruitment and Admissions shared valuable insights on application deadlines, scholarship opportunities, and key steps for a seamless transfer process.

Students said the visit strengthened their confidence in taking the next step. Seeing FAU’s classrooms, student services, and campus environment helped them picture themselves thriving at a four‑year university—an important part of the transfer readiness that TRIO fosters year-round.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and supported by Palm Beach State College, TRIO EOC serves about 2,000 participants annually and offers enrichment opportunities, like this FAU visit, at no cost to students.
