PBSC fire science chair presents research at prestigious TRB annual meeting
Palm Beach State College associate professor and Chair of the Fire Science Department Sean Parr recently presented new research at the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) 105th annual meeting, held Jan. 11–15, 2026, in Washington, D.C.
The annual conference brings together thousands of transportation professionals and researchers from around the world to share innovations in safety, technology and infrastructure.
Parr’s poster presentation, titled “Emergency Response Times and Clearance Durations for Injury Crashes on Managed Express Lanes” (presentation #TRBAM-26-00987), examined key factors influencing emergency response efficiency and crash clearance durations on managed express lanes.
The work builds upon findings from his forthcoming publication in the Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, co-authored with E. Olvera, N. Metz.
This appearance marked Parr’s fourth invitation to the TRB annual meeting and second in-person presentation, following his 2023 lecture on traffic incident management.
“Participating in this conference is an incredible professional opportunity and reflects positively on Palm Beach State College’s commitment to excellence in public safety education,” Parr said. “It also highlights the important work being done by our Fire Science program.”
