Panther spirit soars at Men’s Basketball pep rally and home game
The Panther spirit roared to life at Palm Beach State College on Wednesday, Feb. 11, as fans gathered for an exciting Men’s Basketball pep rally and home game celebration.
The festivities kicked off at Panther Plaza, where students, faculty, staff, and community members came together to cheer on the Panthers before heading into the gym to watch PBSC defeat Florida State College at Jacksonville, 77–68, in an electrifying overtime finish.
The family-friendly event was filled with music, games, giveaways, and high-energy performances. Local high schools added to the excitement, busing in more than 50 band students from John I. Leonard, Palm Beach Lakes Community, Lake Worth Community, Santaluces Community, Palm Beach Gardens and Inlet Grove Community high schools to join the celebration and perform during halftime.
Among them was Justin Young, a senior from Palm Beach Lakes High School, who was excited as it was his first time seeing the PBSC Men’s Basketball team in action and his first opportunity to play on campus alongside other high school students.
The pep rally brought the college community together in full force. Staff member Alex Caulderon attended with his two sons, Mathias and Simon, who shot hoops and played games such as Cornhole before watching the Panthers play for the second time.
PBSC student Jess Damour was also among the excited crowd, attending both the pep rally and her first Panthers game, eager to witness the team secure their 26th win of the season that evening.
With a dominant 26–1 record and a #1 NJCAA Division II national ranking, the PBSC Men’s Basketball team has made history—the best start the College has ever seen. Their remarkable season has positioned them strongly for the upcoming national tournament in Danville, Illinois, and the excitement around campus continues to build.
Fans can follow the Panthers as they take on the Region 8 Tournament, set their sights on the South Atlantic District Championship Game in Alabama on March 7, and ultimately aim for national glory at the NJCAA Division II Championship in Danville, Illinois from March 16–21.
