PBSC honors employees at Length of Service Award Ceremony

Palm Beach State College honored 139 dedicated employees during its annual Length of Service Award Ceremony, held at the Duncan Theatre on the Lake Worth campus.

The ceremony recognized faculty and staff members who have served at the College for milestones ranging from 5 to 35 years. Collectively, the honorees represent more than 2,000 years of service, reflecting an extraordinary commitment to the College’s mission and the success of its students. 

“I, as the leader of the institution, am a beneficiary of your hard work. Your colleagues are a beneficiary of your friendship, and our students are the beneficiary of your commitment to student success,” said PBSC President Ava L. Parker, J.D.  

President Parker was also among the honorees, marking 10 years of service to PBSC. The ceremony featured a video tribute highlighting her major accomplishments during her tenure, along with messages from college leaders who recognized her impact, leadership and dedication to higher education.

Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega reflected on President Parker’s influence and leadership over the years, emphasizing the lasting impression she has made at both the state and national levels.

“We change lives through the power of education. And I’ve been blessed to watch you since day one as president at Palm Beach State College, when I was chancellor ... I’ve seen you make a difference not only on our state stage, but on the national stage,” Pumariega said.  

Building on those remarks, St. Petersburg College President Tonjua Williams highlighted Parker’s ability to inspire and unite the College community. 

"You have ignited a spirit of possibility among faculty and staff, inspired students to dream fearlessly and forge partnerships that have enriched not only the institution, but the entire region," Williams said. 

Closer to home, PBSC District Board of Trustees Chairman Daniel Epstein spoke to President Parker’s consistent commitment to the College’s mission and the people it serves. 

"During my tenure, I've witnessed your consistent hard work and dedication to our staff and students, which have been crucial to our success," Epstein said. 

The celebration concluded with group photos of the honorees, offering one final moment to recognize the impact of their service. The ceremony was livestreamed online and displayed on the Cube at Panther Plaza.
