PBSC collegewide Math Awareness Week showcases math in action

You've probably heard it said that math is everywhere. But have you heard that math plays a role in music and dance? Or even harder to believe, math can actually make jokes funnier? Learn how and much more during Palm Beach State College’s 2025 Math Awareness Week March 31 through April 3. Themed "Math In Action," the week features more than 16 free lectures, demonstrations, activities, games and more. All presentations, which are free and open to the public, will be streamed collegewide. There will also be a problem of the day and week on the Math Awareness Week website with prizes for those who win. The Math Awareness Week presentations allow students, staff and faculty to explore mathematics from many viewpoints. Events include a math scavenger hunt on March 31 from 11 a.m. to noon on the Palm Beach Gardens campus, a presentation titled "The Human Side of Mathematics" will explore a wide variety of problems and personalities that have shaped the mathematical landscape on April 1, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on the Lake Worth campus.  Other presentations on the Palm Beach Gardens campus include "Million Dollar Blackjack," from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  on April 2, and a STEM career panel on April 3 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. A full list of presenters, live stream links and events can be found here
