Nesbitt named 2025 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar
PBSC student Nina Nesbitt has been named a 2025 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholar and awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
The Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship Program supports new Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) members with educational expenses while they are enrolled in associate degree programs. PTK is the first honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at two-year colleges.
“We are extremely proud of Nina for earning the Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship. Her resilience, academic excellence and leadership potential truly embody the values of Phi Theta Kappa and Palm Beach State College,” said Daniel Alvarez, PTK advisor of the Delta Omicron chapter at PBSC. “We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition and wish her continued success as she pursues her academic and professional goals.”
Nesbitt, from West Palm Beach, is one of 220 PTK members selected for the scholarship from more than 600 applicants nationwide. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on scholastic achievement, community service and leadership potential. The funds provided by the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation not only aid college completion but also give students the opportunity to engage in other PTK programs that help develop their leadership skills to become future leaders in their communities.
Nesbitt is currently pursuing her Associate in Arts degree with a major in anthropology and plans to transfer to a university to pursue a bachelor’s degree in the same field. In addition to being a PTK member, she took part in PBSC’s 2025 Kimmel Leadership Academy, a series of seminars, workshops and activities designed to strengthen students’ leadership skills. She encourages other students to take initiative, become involved in their communities and embrace leadership opportunities.
“Lead with integrity and determination and set an example for others because you have to look within yourself first before you can achieve your goals,” Nesbitt said.
