Twenty-six Palm Beach State College students honed their leadership skills through the 2024 Kimmel Leadership Academy Aug. 12-16 at Palm Beach State College’s Boca Raton campus.

The students, selected for their strong applications and leadership potential, participated in a series of activities, workshops, and events to develop their team building, leadership and soft skills.

The academy, which is in its third year, is made possible by the generosity of the Harvey and Virginia Kimmel Family Foundation.

Under the leadership of Associate Dean Luli Marx and faculty leads Josh Filina, Sherry Hall and Helena Zacharis, scholars identified their strengths and values, bonded with one another through trust exercises, and networked with established leaders in and out of the PBSC community.

The Wednesday leadership commitment panel, which included Boca Raton Provost Dr. Van Williams, Boca Raton City Council Member Andy Thomson and City of Boca Raton Economic Developer Jessica Del Vecchio, allowed the scholars to hear each panelist’s leadership journey as well as their advice.

Due to the success and positive outcomes of the academy and its participants, the Kimmel family announced that they will commit funds for three additional years, making it possible for three more cohorts to benefit from the experience.
