Palm Beach State College paid tribute to two former leaders of the District Board of Trustees for their longstanding service to the College following the Board’s Sept. 23 meeting. Carolyn L. Williams and Wendy Sartory Link were honored for their combined 40 years of service to PBSC’s District Board of Trustees at an evening reception at the Duncan Theatre on the College’s Lake Worth campus. PBSC President Ava L. Parker, J.D. spoke of the tremendous difference both women have made in the lives of PBSC students, administrators and the wider college community. “You have made an impact that we will feel for years to come,” Parker said.

Current District Board of Trustee Chair Jon Harrison paid tribute to the accomplishments of his predecessors. Williams, a retired senior staff advisor for the South Florida Water Management District, served on the Board from 1999-2024. Link, who is also the current Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, served from 2007-2024. “Each of you has inspired support across the community, exemplified incredibly high standards of business leadership, and impacted the growth of the College,” Harrison said.

Under the stewardship of Williams and Link, the College opened its fifth campus in 2017 in Loxahatchee Groves. Link, as Board Chair at the time, championed the College’s westward expansion. Thanks to her dedication to securing state funding, Loxahatchee Groves is PBSC’s fastest growing and most technologically advanced campus.

When Williams was most recently chair, she also played a key role in the development of the Loxahatchee campus. She successfully sought funding for the construction of the College’s new $50 million Dental and Medical Services Technology Building, which will be open for classes in Fall of 2025.

Both women were also pivotal in developing PBSC’s partnership with TMRW Sports that is bringing the TGL, the world’s first tech-infused golf league, to the Palm Beach Gardens campus. “The fact that you both brought this here is a huge part of your legacy and it is an enormous privilege for me to help shepherd that forward,” Harrison said. The College’s collaboration with TMRW Sports, he noted, “will shine a spotlight on us for many years to come.”

Both Link and Williams received tributes from former PBSC President Dr. Dennis P. Gallon, for whom the Loxahatchee campus is named, as well as former colleagues, leaders in the community college community and family and friends.
