PBSC Celebrates Pratt & Whitney as a Panther Partner

Palm Beach State College has launched the PBSC Panther Partner initiative to recognize Palm Beach County businesses advancing student success. The program honors companies that invest in the next generation of professionals through career development, employment opportunities, student scholarships and internships, and investments in education. 

Pratt & Whitney received the award during a Wednesday, Aug. 12 ceremony at Pratt & Whitney’s Jupiter, Fla. location, attended by representatives from both organizations.

Pratt & Whitney's relationship with PBSC dates back more than a decade. In 2013, Pratt & Whitney became one of the top contributors to the College's Electrical Power Technology (EPT) program. Since then, the company has hired 40 PBSC students, all from the EPT or the Engineering Technology (ET) program.

“For more than a decade, Pratt & Whitney has invested in our students before they ever put on a cap and gown. Our partnership helps ensure that what students learn in our classrooms keeps pace with evolving industry needs,” said PBSC President Ava L. Parker, JD.

Beyond hiring, Pratt & Whitney supports students directly in the classroom, donating equipment that keeps instructional labs current, and offering internships and scholarships. The company also participates in the EPT and ET Business Partnership Councils, helping shape curriculum around real industry needs.

“Palm Beach State College plays an important role in developing skilled, local talent, and we’ve seen how its programs help students build meaningful careers in our industry,” said Mary Anne Cannon, vice president of West Palm Beach and development operations at Pratt & Whitney. “Supporting this work strengthens the future of our workforce and reflects our commitment to the communities where we live and work.”
