PBSC’s Belle Glade Campus Recognized for Community Impact
Palm Beach State College’s Belle Glade campus was recognized as a valued community partner on Friday, September 25, by Palm Beach County’s Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) during a breakfast held in South Bay.
The campus was acknowledged for its support of the Back to School PBC! event organized by OCR on Saturday, August 1, 2026. This was the sixth time the campus served as a partner and location site.
During the event, the campus welcomed more than 1,300 families who were provided with a wide array of resources, including backpacks, uniforms, shoes, socks, books, hygiene kits, bicycles, iPads, beats headphones, and laptops.
“This recognition reflects the outstanding teamwork, dedication, and collaborative spirit that makes the Belle Glade Campus such a special place,” said Brian Stinson, assistant dean of student services who volunteered that day. “We are proud to represent Palm Beach State College and to serve our community.”
Additionally, Campus Safety Sergeant Precious Pace, Arts Center Manager Norma Castillo O'Hep, Maintenance Mechanic Derrel Redish, and Stinson were honored with Appreciation Certificates for helping plan and execute the event.
Pace was the security lead for that day, helping with traffic flow and event safety and set-up. Castillo O’Hep welcomed more than 560 visitors who spoke to 23 community vendors in the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center on campus. Redish helped set up the event as part of the facilities team and Stinson assisted with overall coordination.
Others who were recognized with certificates for their participation in the success of the event were Palm Beach County Mayor Sara Baxter, PBC School Board Vice Chair Marcia Andrews, School Board District 6 representative John McGovern, as well as several other community leaders.
