PBSC’s Marine Service Technology program receives Excellence in Education award

PBSC’s Marine Service Technology program was honored with the Excellence in Marine Education award at the Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County’s (MIAPBC) Annual Member Awards dinner on January 28.

The MIAPBC, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and growing the marine industry in Palm Beach County, recognized the program for its strong commitment to marine education and workforce development.

The Marine Service Technology program prepares students for careers as marine service technicians in dealerships, repair shops and boat maintenance facilities. Students gain hands-on experience in labs and on boats, and they complete the program with industry certifications that give them an edge when applying for jobs.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade tri-county area has the highest employment level for motorboat mechanics and service technicians in the country. With over 800 marine-related businesses, Palm Beach County is a major hub for the industry. "

Receiving this award speaks to the effort and passion our team puts into making sure our students are ready for the marine industry,” said Doreen Singer, Program Director of Transportation Technologies Career Certificate Programs. “We're proud to be training the next generation of marine service technicians here at PBSC.”
