Dave Kerner appointed to the PBSC District Board of Trustees
Dave Kerner, the executive director of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, has been appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis to a four-year term on the Palm Beach State College District Board of Trustees. The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
A lifelong public servant, Kerner, who attended his first District Board of Trustees meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at the Lake Worth campus, previously served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives representing District 87 and as Palm Beach County Mayor and Commissioner. He began his career in law enforcement in 2005, earning the distinction of City of Alachua Police Department Officer of the Year.
A proud alumnus of Palm Beach State, Kerner later earned both his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Florida.
“Trustee Kerner's long record of dedication to public service and his deep connection to our community make him an outstanding addition to our Board of Trustees,” said Palm Beach State College President Ava L. Parker, J.D. “As a PBSC alumnus, he understands firsthand the transformative power of education and the vital role our College plays in preparing students for success.”
Kerner replaces trustee Patrice Bishop, who was first appointed to the board in 2021.
