PBSC’s head women’s golf coach Susan Bond-Philo has been invited to play in the 2024 U.S. Senior Women’s Open at Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh Aug. 1-4. Bond-Philo, who joined PBSC in September 2023, is one of 120 of the best senior women’s golfers in the world battling it out at this year’s open.

The USGA has qualifying events around the country.  Bond-Philo qualified from finishing tied for 3rd at the qualifying event held at Brewster, Massachusetts. The field is comprised of 120 players who have reached their 50th birthday by August 1 – LPGA Tour players, PGA and LPGA club professionals and women amateurs, from around the world.

“I am very excited to being playing in this event,” Bond-Philo said. Since the end of May, she has won the senior division at the Connecticut and Ohio Women’s Open.  “As seniors, we have very few events to participate in and the USGA Senior Women’s Open is our ultimate goal,” she said.  Her husband Ron, PBSC’s new Men’s Coach, will be her caddie. “To be able to share this experience with him again, is fantastic,” Bond-Philo said.  “I am extremely competitive, and I want to demonstrate that spirit to my incoming players.  It is important not just to talk about it, but to walk the walk.”

Bond-Philo’s previous playing accomplishments include being named the 2020 Tennessee Sr. Women’s Open Champion, 2019 US Senior Women’s Open participant, 2019 North Florida PGA Section Women’s Champion, North Florida Section Northern Chapter Senior Champion, 2017 Florida Women’s Senior Open Professional Champion, three-time New England Women’s Open Champion, Mass Women’s Open Champion, and two-time Cape Cod Women’s Open Champion.  In October 2023, she became the first woman inducted into the New England PGA Hall of Fame.
