Palm Beach State College’s Tuesday Nite Big Band will perform “Solid Silver – The Legacy of Horace Silver” at 8 p.m. Feb. 24 and March 3.

The Feb. 24 performance will be held in the Duncan Theatre on the Lake Worth campus and the March 3 performance will be at the Eissey Campus Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens. Admission is $15. Students, faculty and staff tickets are $5.

Silver was an American jazz pianist and composer. He is known for his distinctive playing style and pioneering compositional contributions to hard bop—a subgenre of jazz that is an extension of bebop (or “bop”) music. Silver was influenced by a wide range of musical styles, notably gospel music, African music, and Latin American music, and sometimes ventured into the soul jazz genre.

The Tuesday Nite Big Band is composed of students and community professionals. They perform under the direction of Associate Professor David Gibble. For more information, call the Duncan Theatre box office at (561) 868-3309 or the Eissey Campus Theatre box office at (561) 207-5900.
