PBSC student government members advocate in Tallahassee, several elected as state leaders

More than 30 Palm Beach State College students from the Palm Beach Gardens, Lake Worth and Belle Glade campuses traveled to Tallahassee April 2-4 for the Florida College System Student Government Association final conference for the 2013-14 academic year.

The conference integrated, for the first time, the organization’s annual “Rally in Tally” event which saw attendees gather on the Capitol steps and hear from several energetic speakers before going into their scheduled meetings with state leaders.

Also tied into the conference were the 2014-15 FCSSGA state and district board elections and awards. Three students from the Lake Worth campus SGA were honored. Aracelly Vargas was elected as the District One assistant coordinator and Tony Scott elected as the state secretary.

In addition, President John Sanabria was awarded the President’s Award. The award is given to one president out of all the 28 Florida college SGA presidents and branch campus presidents who provided outstanding service and support to their fellow SGA students.

Sanabria, who graduated from Santaluces High School, is a second year student majoring in business administration and management from Lake Worth. He plans to continue his studies at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton after graduation.
